At my local Barnes and Noble last Saturday, these shelf tags caught my eye.
I’m not sure I can elucidate it, but it strikes me as a fundamental misstep.

Okay, I can elucidate it. It is called business. Marketing, consumerism. It is the degradation of the church into a demographic to be targeted by publishers and others as a source of revenue. It does not come just from the producer side, though. It is Christians seeking to improve their spiritual position by buying something. Not that their aren’t legitimate tools to help us with that. However, I think, perhaps we are treading on the ground of Simon the Magician.
